The US has announced a new round of sanctions against Russia

The US announced further sanctions against Russia for its war in Ukraine on Wednesday.

It targeted a major commercial bank as well as “a global network of more than 40 individuals and companies managed by US.

The US Treasury Department also claimed it was going after “businesses participating in Russia’s virtual currency mining industry, which is reputedly the world’s third largest.”

It noted that it was the first time they had “identified a virtual currency mining corporation.”

Furthermore, the State Department has placed visa restrictions on 635 Russian nationals implicated in suppressing dissent in Russia and abroad.

They have been involved in operations that jeopardize Ukraine’s territorial integrity.

They also threaten human rights violations in prisons and places of unofficial detention in Russia-controlled portions of Ukraine’s Donbas region.

Three Russian officials will also face visa restrictions for their roles in severe human rights breaches, as well as 17 individuals accused of undermining Belarusian democracy, according to US treasury.
