The EU has allocated an additional EUR 50 million in humanitarian aid to the most vulnerable groups in all regions of Ukraine as Ukraine continues to fight Russia’s unprovoked invasion and Russian troops continue to launch missile attacks and bomb Ukrainian cities and villages, killing civilians and destroying critical civilian infrastructure.

According to Ukrinform, this is according to a statement released on the European Commission’s website.

“The EU is investing an additional EUR 50 million in humanitarian funds to help those affected by Russia’s war in Ukraine, including EUR 45 million for humanitarian programmes in Ukraine and EUR 5 million for Moldova. The EU’s total humanitarian aid spending for the war now stands at EUR 143 million.

According to the statement, “this financing is part of the EUR 1 billion support package committed by the European Commission during last week’s global pledging event ‘Stand Up For Ukraine.'”

Emergency medical care, access to good drinking water and sanitation, shelter and protection, monetary assistance, and help against gender-based violence will all be provided with this extra financing.

“The needs in Ukraine are already tremendous, with millions of people on the move or trapped in active battle zones. We must now brace ourselves for a rise in Russia’s savage attacks on Ukraine, particularly in the east.
