The US was notified already regarding the Russian missile launch, through international notification agreements, two US officials said on Wednesday.

The US was aware of the missile launch and tracked it as well.

Russia and America are under an existing agreement, owing to which, they have to notify other countries whenever they conduct a test to avoid any mishap.

The sources confirmed that the US evaluated the missile was not operational in Russian inventory.

Pentagon press secretary, John Kirby said, “Such testing is routine, and it was not a surprise.”

He added that the US did not regard the test as a threat to it or its allies.

“The department remains focused on Russia’s unlawful and unprovoked aggression against Ukraine,” Kirby continued.
