US President Joe Biden was surprised in Iowa on Tuesday when a bird appeared to poop on his suit as he delivered a speech on inflation and the state of the American economy.

The material spilled on Mr. Biden’s jacket just above his American flag button, according to a video that went viral on social media.

He was discussing ways to lower gas costs and “putting rural America at the centre of our efforts to build a future that’s made in America.

“It’s about being made in America,” the US President said moments prior to the poop incident.

According to Fox News, the event occurred inside a “giant barn”. He then emphasised that it was “corn” and not bird crap. However, Twitter users joked about suspected bird droppings.

“Move over Pence fly. It’s Biden shoulder bird poop,” wrote one Twitter user while referring to when a fly famously lingered on former Vice President Mike Pence’s head during his debate with Kamala Harris last year. “Biden wasn’t the only one spouting poop today,” commented another. “Even the birds are pissed off now. What’s NEXT,” chimed a third user.

Also, Mr. Biden arrived in Des Moines early Tuesday for his “rural infrastructure tour”. In his speech, he addressed the nationwide rise in gasoline costs.

He announced a proposal to make E15 (gasoline containing 15% ethanol) available from June 1 to September 15.

Notably, the President’s Iowa address came after he mentioned the Brooklyn subway killings during morning rush hour.
