BARCELONA: Three people were discovered dead and one critically injured in an apartment fire in Barcelona on Wednesday morning, according to emergency authorities.

In the town of Santa Coloma de Gramanet, a three-story structure caught fire. The fire department claimed that the fire was discovered at 4:29 a.m. local time (0229 GMT) and that the flames were put out 25 minutes later.

With serious injuries, a woman was rescued and transferred to a hospital in Barcelona, where she is now in critical condition.

Three other persons, including a 71-year-old male, suffered minor injuries.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by police.
