3,000 Russian troops died in Ukraine

According to a Ukrainian organization that monitors Russian media and social networks, the Russian army’s death toll in Ukraine has reached 3,000.

Svyatoslav Nizhegorodov, a captain in Russia-annexed Crimea, was the 3,000th Russian soldier killed in Ukraine, according to the Goryushko group on the Telegram messaging app.

On May 8, he was said to have been slain on the Zmiiny island in the southern Odesa area.

According to the Ukrainian military, the dead toll has surpassed 30,000.

Russia’s most current figure, given in late March, put the death toll at 1,300.
