A rockslide in southwest China killed five people

BEIJING: Five people were killed in a rockslide in Rongxian County in southwest China’s Sichuan Province, according to local media citing authorities.

According to Xinhua, the incident occurred at about 2:30 p.m. (local time) on Monday in a village in Rongxian, leaving five people missing.

According to the report, local authorities were also dispatched to the scene to look for the missing people. The rescue effort came to a conclusion shortly after midnight, following the recovery of the body of the final missing person.

According to Xinhua, an investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
