Breakdown of security at Champions League final is absolutely unacceptable

The failure of security at Friday night’s Champions League final was “totally unacceptable,” according to Liverpool CEO Billy Hogan, and the facts must be established.

Mr. Hogan said in a statement that the squad had discussed the need for a “full and transparent” probe with UEFA after fans were tear-gassed by officers.

“The stadium admission and the perimeter security breach, as well as the treatment of our spectators, was simply unacceptable,” he stated.

Mr. Hogan went on to state that “understanding what happened yesterday night and how we got into that scenario where people’s safety was put in jeopardy” was “imperative.”
