The National Meteorological Center of China issued an orange signal for rainstorms across the country on Wednesday.

Rain is anticipated to lash regions of Guangxi, Guangdong, Fujian, Jiangxi, Guizhou, and Yunnan from Wednesday evening through Thursday evening.

Within 24 hours, some locations will receive up to 280 millimetres of rain.

Hourly precipitation of over 100 millimetres is expected in some areas, along with thunderstorms and gales.

Local governments have been advised by the centre to prepare rainfall preparations.

Schools and kindergartens have been asked to take adequate precautions to guarantee the safety of children, while drivers have been cautioned to expect floods and traffic congestion.

China uses a four-tiered, color-coded weather warning system, with red signifying the most severe alert and orange, yellow, and blue denoting the less severe warnings.
