The explosion occurred in Havana, the Capital of Cuba and at least 13 people are missing, according to officials.

According to Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel, the explosion at The Hotel Saratoga was not caused by a bomb.

Authorities are looking into the reason, but he believes it could be a gas leak.

CNN’s Havana Capital of Cuba bureau director, Patrick Oppman, tweeted photographs of the chaotic scene, calling the area around the “iconic hotel” a “horrible scene of destruction.”

“So far, eight people have died and 30 have been hospitalized,” Mr. Diaz-Canel said on Twitter.

“Several people offer blood donations.”

Anyone who may be trapped under the rubble is being sought.

According to the president’s office, Old Capital of Cuba  Havana Mayor Alexis Acosta Silva informed them that students from a nearby school had been evacuated and that no one had been wounded.

According to the Associated Press, the explosion shook Yazira de la Caridad’s home, which is a street away from the hotel.

“The entire building moved,” she said. I mistook it for an earthquake.

“I’ve still got my heаrt in my hаnd”.

The Hotel Satogа is a 19th-century structure in the historic district of Old Havаnа.

It has bars, restaurants, a spa, a gym, and a rooftop pool, according to its website.

The hotel was the place to be for visiting government officials and celebrities.
