A gunman riding an electric scooter opened fire on a residence full of people in Dingle, Liverpool.

At around 12.15 a.m. today (Sunday, May 1), police received reports of a firearm being shot at a house in Dingle. The window of the residence on Maley Close was shattered, indicating that a gun was discharged.

People were at home, however, no one was harmed as a result of the gunfire. The gunman is thought to have fled on an electric scooter towards Peel Street.

An investigation has been initiated, with house-to-house, CCTV, and forensic searches being conducted in the area in the hopes of finding the perpetrators. Police patrols will also remain in the area to reassure locals.

“The inquiry is in its early stages,” said Detective Chief Inspector Allison Woods. “A cordon is in place.”

“While no injuries have been reported, discharging a firearm is extremely reckless and dangerous. I would like to reassure the local community that we are working to find those responsible and bring them to justice.

“We have a zero-tolerance approach to any person involved in the use of, possession of, and storage of firearms, and we will relentlessly pursue anyone involved in this type of awful criminality.”

DCI Woods is appealing for information from the public. She added: “This incident took place in a residential area so there are likely to be people who may have witnessed the incident, saw someone acting suspiciously or know who is responsible.

“I’m also appealing for anyone who was in the vicinity of Maley Close, Peel Street, Ullet Road and Park Road area of Dingle at around midnight onwards who saw or heard anything suspicious to contact us.

“I urge people to check your CCTV or dashcam for footage which may have captured something that will help with the investigation and help us find those responsible.”
