According to the Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms, the Houthis perpetrated 2,158 violations against religious leaders, mosques, and other places of worship in Yemen during the first four months of this year.

The group documented Houthi religious violence in 14 Yemeni governorates, including the capital city of Sana’a, Amran, Hajjah, Saada, Al-Jawf, Marib, Dhamar, Ibb, Al-Bayda, Al-Dhalea, Taiz, Raymah, and Al-Mahwit, including the killing of imams and preachers, as well as causing injuries, beating worshipers, kidnapping

According to the rights organization, the Iran-backed force pushed Houthi ideas on speakers and transformed mosques into schools for sectarian indoctrination of minors.

Rashad Al-Alimi, who was named chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council on April 7 after former President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi delegated his responsibilities to the council, had urged the Houthis to adhere to the UN-brokered ceasefire.

The two-month truce, which began at the beginning of Ramadan, has been routinely breached by Iran-backed militia, notably in Marib, where they manipulated the ceasefire to gain a strategic advantage in the area.

The cease-fire was shattered when the first commercial aircraft from Sanaa airport was delayed because the Houthis insisted on adding hundreds of passengers with fake IDs.
