After raids in Delhi, Rajasthan, Chennai, and Mysore, the CBI discovered illegal transactions worth around 2 crore trafficked through hawala methods.

The CBI announced Monday that ten persons, including five government officials, were arrested for allegedly accepting bribes on behalf of non-profits in exchange for allegedly aiding violations of laws in obtaining foreign donations.

Officials from the Home Ministry granted illegal Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) licenses to NGOs in exchange for a bribe.

They were caught red-handed accepting bribes in order to secure foreign donations in contravention of the foreign funding statute.

The raids were carried out by the CBI after the Home Ministry alerted them.
