McDonald’s has decided to quit Russia fully and is selling its business in the nation, according to Andriy Yermak, the head of the President’s Office. According to source, the official made the report via Telegram.

“McDonald’s has chosen to entirely exit Russia and is selling its operations there. According to the New York Times, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has compelled the firm to respond with anti-Russian sanctions. This is a significant signal. The more enterprises that leave Russia, the worse their economy will be, according to Yermak.

He emphasized that sanctions must be strengthened in order for Russia to be unable to fund its heinous war in Ukraine.

As previously reported, Russia started a full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, expanding its military assault that began in 2014. Russian troops have been bombing and shelling peaceful Ukrainian towns and villages in large numbers, inflicting widespread terror on inhabitants in the temporarily seized territory.

Since the beginning of the conflict, the European Union has showed its support for Ukraine by giving effective political, economic, financial, humanitarian, and military assistance. It has imposed five packages of sectorial and individual sanctions deemed harmful to the Russian economy, and is currently working on a sixth package that might affect Russian energy supply.
