No chance of Putin declaring war on Ukraine on Victory Day, says Kremlin

Dmitry Peskov, a Kremlin spokesman, stated on Wednesday that Russian President Vladimir Putin would not declare war on Ukraine on May 9, Russia’s Victory Day.

He dismissed those rumors as “nonsense.”

Peskov was asked about the odds of Putin declaring war on Victory Day, and he answered “none.”

He added, “No, this is nonsense.”

He also dismissed speculations that Putin may use Victory Day to declare national mobilization.

In a way of allowing the government to not only deploy troops but also put the economy on a war footing.

Analysts and Western officials have previously stated that Putin could formally declare war on Ukraine on May 9.

Soon after more than two months of dubbing the invasion a “special military operation.”
