Following the collapse of a building in Changsha, China’s major city; police have arrested at least nine people, as rescue teams continue to look for survivors trapped beneath the rubble.

The building’s owner and three others responsible for its design and construction were arrested; on suspicion of “significant culpability for an accident”. According to Changsha police.
Five other persons, all employees of a private building inspection agency, “gave a fraudulent safety report after conducting a building safety audit of the hotel,” according to a statement on Weibo, China’s version of Twitter.

According to police, seven people have been recovered alive from the wreckage of the six-story building in central China’s Hunan province, with 16 others feared to be trapped.
