Russia’s counsellor to UN confirms resignation

Previously, Russia’s ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva had resigned, according to UN Watch

Now, the seasoned diplomat has confirmed the news, stating he resigned before writing a blistering letter to his overseas counterparts.

Boris Bondarev complained in his letter about Vladimir Putin’s “aggressive war.”

A diplomatic official forwarded his English-language statement to The Associated Press.

The 41-year-old announced his resignation in a letter.

“For 20 years of my diplomatic career I have seen different turns of our foreign policy, but never have I been so ashamed of my country as on 24 February of this year,” he wrote.

Mr Bondarev said: “Today, the ministry of foreign affairs is not about diplomacy. It is all about warmongering, lies, and hatred.”
