Hundreds of Palestinians in Gaza paid their respects to Shireen Abu Akleh on Nakba Day.

Palestinian activists held up posters of Abu Akleh during a march from Gaza City’s al-Katibah Square to the UN offices.

The march began with a eulogy for Abu Akleh, which highlighted her empathy and professionalism in portraying Palestinian life under Israeli rule.

“Shireen, for whom the church bells rang and the hands of Muslims raised in prayer, is the one who united the Palestinian spectrum in all its colours,” said Heba Akila, Al Jazeera’s correspondent.
