On Sunday, May 29, Punjabi artist Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead by unidentified attackers in Jawaharke village in Mansa district.

This comes only one day after the Punjab Police removed the protection of 424 persons, including Punjabi artist Sidhu Moose Wala.

Sidhu Moose Wala ran for Punjab assembly in this year’s election on a Congress ticket from Mansa, but was beaten by AAP candidate Vijay Singla by 63,000 votes. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann recently fired Vijay Singla amid allegations of corruption.

Sidhu Moose Wala stirred a controversy last month when his song “Scapegoat” criticised the Aam Aadmi Party and its followers. In his song, the artist labelled AAP supporters “gaddar” (traitor).
