Following Boris Johnson’s statement on the Sue Gray investigation, Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey spoke.

Conservative MPs should “do the right thing… and get the prime minister out of Number 10,” he said.

He added that if they don’t, they will be “guilty by association.”

Davey said: “I think the Sue Gray report confirmed what the British public already knew.”

“That the prime minister broke the law, that there was mass criminality in 10 Downing Street, and that the prime minister misled parliament.”

“This is all incredibly serious stuff, and although the prime minister said he was sorry today, frankly his whole tone suggested he’s only sorry he got caught.”

“I don’t think he cares about people, and the Liberal Democrats are clear, we’ve been consistent throughout, we think he should go.”
