Sony, the company behind PlayStation, announces upcoming game releases.

During its annual investor day, the business stated that by 2025, half of its titles should be available on PC or mobile, resulting in a decrease in the percentage of PS releases.

Only 10% of Sony’s titles are available on mobile devices right now, but that number is anticipated to grow to 20% in three years.

Expanding Sony’s presence to PC and mobile, as well as live services, would allow the company to “move from a scenario of being present in a very small section” of the gaming industry to one where it is “very much everywhere,” according to Jim Ryan of Sony Interactive Entertainment.

He didn’t mention PlayStation 4, but official slides show that launches will be phased away by 2025.

The fact isn’t surprising given that PlayStation 5 has been available for a while.

In retrospect, Sony did the same thing with the PS3, which was quietly dropped two years after the PS4’s public introduction.

The mobile growth will be managed by a new business unit under Sony Interactive Entertainment, which will be led by Nicola Sebastiani, the former Apple Arcade content chief.

It will be a part of a future where Sony’s community extends beyond the console-centric experience.
