Robb Elementary students and their families should have been celebrating the last day of school before the summer holiday today.

Instead, they are mourning the shooting deaths of 19 children and two instructors by an 18-year-old gunman.

Others are still in the hospital as a result of their injuries.

Some of the victims’ parents said they saw their children just hours before the massacre on Tuesday, congratulating them on making honor roll or earning medals at an end-of-year celebration.

“My son couldn’t wait to start middle school,” one mother remarked.

As the inquiry continues to be investigated, their families will have to start preparing funerals.
