According to the Daily Mail, a tiny Bible the size of a £2 coin was uncovered among other mystery treasures at Leeds Library.

Despite its small size, the book contains both the Old and New Testaments.

The 1911 miniature facsimile is 1.9 inches by 1.3 inches and is printed on 876 gossamer-thin India paper pages.

The origins of the facsimile, according to librarians, remain unknown.

“We have no idea where it came from. It’s a bit of a puzzle, to be honest. Many of the artefacts in our collection were either purchased over time or were donated “Rhian Isaac, a senior special collections librarian at Leeds City Library, agreed.

She explained that the team spent the lockdown classifying books, which is why they discovered books they had never seen or found before.

More than 3,000 objects, some dating back to the 1400s, were discovered and catalogued.

Leeds librarians are hope that the library would appeal to tourists as well as academics and scholars.

“It’s a huge deal for us,” Isaac added.
