The Verkhovna Rada is unable to reject all of Ukraine’s agreements with Russia and Belarus.

In an interview, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk stated this.

“Can we take everything out?” We obviously cannot. Because there are a number of human rights accords that must be respected. For example, if Ukrainians remain on the territory of other countries or if prisoner exchanges occur, all of this takes place under international agreements. Economic accords must be cancelled at the same time,” he stated.

At the same time, he stated the Verkhovna Rada had given the Cabinet of Ministers the responsibility of “de-Russifying” and “de-Belarusianizing” the parts of the accords that may be cancelled. Stefanchuk stated that the parliament anticipates such initiatives and will give them priority consideration.

He also mentioned that the Ukrainian parliament has previously discussed a number of matters connected to the rejection of agreements with Russia and Belarus. He claims that all documents related to Ukraine’s involvement in the CIS have already been denounced.
