A boiler exploded at a chemical industry in western Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur district on Saturday afternoon. It killed at least nine workers, while 15 others were injured, according to authorities.

When the event occurred, they said there were 25 people in the impacted section of the factory in the UPSIDC industrial complex in Dholana, around 80 kilometers from the national capital.

The explosion was so powerful that it destroyed the roofs of some of the nearby factories. The fire crews took three hours to put out the blaze in the facility.

Nine people were killed, according to Inspector General of Police (Meerut range) Praveen Kumar.

15 of the remaining 17 people were taken to the hospital, while the others sustained minor injuries.

The factory is just next to a CNG station.

Officials said that rescue and relief efforts were still underway at the scene.

Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, expressed his sympathies to the departed families.

“The chief minister has directed district administration officers to go to the spot and oversee rescue and relief measures and extend all possible help to the victims and their families,” according to CM’s tweet.

Nand Gopal Gupta, Minister of State for Industrial Development in Uttar Pradesh ‘Nandi’ expressed sorrow over the deaths.

“May God give peace to the departed souls and strength to the bereaved families to bear the immense loss, I wish a speedy recovery to the injured,” the Minister tweeted.
