CAIRO: Algeria announced on Thursday that it would ban international trade in goods and services with Spain effective June 9, as per Radio Algeria International, as part of a deepening conflict over the status of Western Sahara.

The decision comes after the government cancelled a 20-year-old friendship treaty with Spain on Wednesday, which obligated the two countries to cooperate in the control of migration flows and also prohibited imports from Spain.
