Mawlawi Mohammad Hashim Mahmoud, the police chief of the Spin Boldak area, confirmed the tragic attack on Thursday morning, saying an explosive device left over from previous wars struck a vehicle.

Meanwhile, an Afghan local news station reported on Friday that the blast killed six persons, including a civilian and five government security personnel.

Since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan in August of last year, there have been fewer roadside bombings and violent occurrences, and the Taliban-led caretaker government has urged all Afghans to return home and work together to restore their country.
