China is confident that its foreign trade will remain within a respectable range during the entire year, contributing more to the economy’s fundamentals, the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) reported on Thursday.

In May, the country’s total imports and exports went up by 9.6% compared to the same month last year. This is a sign that the economy is getting better.

At a news conference, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce (MOC), Shu Jueting, stated, “The rebound came as work resumption of foreign trade enterprises was put forward in order and pro-growth measures started taking effect.”

Shu said that even though there are still some unknowns, such as the fragile global economic recovery and problems with costs, supply chains, and logistics, the growth of international trade will be helped by effective coordination of measures to stop epidemics, improve economic and social development, and take other steps.

The tax reduction and trade convenience brought about by free trade agreements would play a significant role in stimulating international trade, as per Shu, who added that China has a growing number of partners with whom it has signed free trade agreements.
