  • International Day Against Drug Addiction and Illicit Trafficking, also called “World Drug Day,” is held every year on June 26.

BEIJING: During the first half of 2022, police working for China’s immigration authority seized 4.26 tonnes of drugs and 486.6 tonnes of materials used to make drugs in border areas.

This was part of increased efforts to fight drugs and crimes related to them.

On Friday, the National Immigration Administration announced that 376 individuals were implicated in 277 drug-related incidents, which resulted in the seizure of these illegal goods.

As per the administration, the crackdown has effectively impeded the importation of illegal narcotics from abroad.

The administration announced that immigration officials will increase their efforts to combat drug-related crimes by examining, among other things, how criminals conceal drugs from border inspections and which populations are prone to drug misuse and drug-related crimes.

The International Day Against Drug Addiction and Illicit Trafficking also called “World Drug Day” is held every year on June 26.

It was started by the United Nations to get more people working together to make the world free of drug abuse.
