A Russian cruiser repeatedly breached Danish territorial seas north of Bornholm, a Baltic Sea island that was hosting a democracy festival with high government officials and business people in attendance, according to the Danish Armed Forces.

The move was described as an unacceptable provocation by Denmark. According to the Russian embassy in Copenhagen, the Danes offered no proof.

the Russian cruiser entered the Danish seas without permission, according to a statement from the armed services. Following radio communication with the Danish navy, the warship reportedly sailed away.

Jeppe Kofod, the foreign minister of Denmark, referred to the Democracy Festival of Denmark on Twitter as “a profoundly reckless, gross, and absolutely unacceptable Russian provocation in the heart of #fmdk.”

Senior government officials, including Kofod and Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, attend the yearly festival.

Bullying tactics don’t work against Denmark, according to Kofod. He claimed that the Russian ambassador had been called, and the Russian embassy in Copenhagen verified this.

According to a statement from the embassy, the ambassador was informed that a Russian cruiser had “apparently ventured into the territorial sea of Denmark.”

In the statement, it was stated that “no evidence of what occurred, including the coordinates of the claimed crossing of the Danish maritime border by the ship, was produced.”

According to Morten Bodskov, the Danish defence minister, there was no immediate threat to the event or Bornholm.
