CAIRO: Egyptian PM Mostafa Madbouly is now discussing the improvement of political and economic ties between Egypt and Algeria with Algerian leaders during his two-day visit.

Madbouly and the high-level ministerial delegation he was travelling with landed at Houari Boumediene International Airport in the Algerian capital on Wednesday evening.

They were there to lead the eighth session of the joint higher committee between Algeria and France.

Algerian Prime Minister Ayman bin Abd Al-Rahman greeted Madbouly, emphasising Algeria’s pleasure in its good connections with Egypt and its desire to strengthen its cooperation with the nation.

The visit is anticipated to include discussions with senior Algerian officials and the signing of a number of memorandums of agreement, particularly in the oil and housing industries.

The Egyptian-Algerian Business Leaders’ Forum will also be held to talk about trade and investment opportunities between the two countries.

In January of last year, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the president of Algeria, went on an official trip to Egypt. There, he met with Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the president of Egypt.

Tebboune said that his talks with the president of Egypt “offered a chance to talk about economic cooperation” and make it easier for people to invest in both countries.

Algeria and Egypt decided at the start of this month to transform their historical links into “reciprocal partnerships” in the oil industry.

This occurred during remote official discussions between the Algerian Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohammed Arkab, and the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla.
