NANCHANG: Over 800,000 people in east China’s Jiangxi Province have been hit by torrential rains and rain-induced floods as of 4:30 p.m. Monday, as per local authorities.

As per the provincial flood control and drought relief headquarters, the recent round of rain has wrecked havoc in 80 counties of the province, ruining 76,300 hectares of agriculture and generating direct economic losses of 1.16 billion yuan (approximately 174 million US dollars).

The province’s level IV flood-control emergency response was withdrawn around 10 a.m. Tuesday, as the heavy rains had mostly stopped.
