JAKARTA: Abdul Qadir Baraja, a key figure in the accused treason group Khilafatul Muslimin, was arrested by Indonesian police in Lampung province on Tuesday, according to an official.

Endra Zulpan, a spokesperson for the Metro Jaya Regional Police, said the organisation was lobbying for an anti-Indonesian constitution ideology and sought to establish an Islamic state in the archipelagic nation.

“This group also invites people to hate the legitimate government,” Zulpan explained.

Based on viral videos on social media, an inquiry was conducted into how the gang was in convoy utilising motorbikes in numerous places, including Jakarta, West Java, and Central Java, promoting the revival of the Islamic state.

Baraja is a former terrorist convict with ties to terror organisations like the Indonesian Islamic State and the Indonesian Mujahidin Council.
