According to court documents, Powe is charged with battery with a deadly weapon while the victim is a first responder and assaulted with a deadly weapon.
The incident occurred about 9 a.m. on June 5th, as the detective was getting petrol outside a convenience store. A witness flagged him down, claiming that a woman was attempting to start a fire nearby.
Powe was discovered by the detective with a bottle of gasoline and a lighter. When she attempted to light a cigarette, the detective allegedly smacked the lighter out of her hand.
Powe then allegedly poured gasoline directly on his head, according to authorities. The detective recalled losing his sight and using a radio to summon assistance. He was afraid she’d find another lighter and use it.
