The informant stated, “Our diplomacy has yet to perfect teleportation.” The Russian foreign ministry did not respond immediately.

Serbia, which has strong cultural links with Russia, has resisted the temptation to take sides in the conflict in Ukraine and has refused to join Western sanctions against Moscow.

Last month, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic agreed that Russia would continue to supply natural gas to Serbia, despite the fact that other nations had been shut off because they refused to pay in roubles for Russian gas.
