Palestinian health ministry said, a Palestinian died in the occupied West Bank on Thursday after being shot in the stomach by Israeli soldiers, the latest bloodshed in the territory.

The ministry said Mahmud Fayez Abu Ayhour, 27, was slain near Halhul, north of the flashpoint city of Hebron, according to the ministry.

The Israeli army told France news agency it was investigating the incident’s circumstances.

Following rioting in Halhul, the Red Crescent reported multiple injuries.

The Israeli army has been conducting near-daily raids across the West Bank in recent weeks, arresting many people in what they call “counter-terrorism activities.”

According to the army, the most recent operation, which took place overnight, resulted in nine arrests.

Since late March, Palestinians and Israeli Arabs have killed nineteen people, largely Israeli civilians, including 18 inside Israel and a Jewish settler.

Israeli security forces have retaliated with raids both inside Israel and in the West Bank, focusing on Jenin and its environs.

Three Israeli Arab assailants were killed, as well as a police commando.

In the West Bank, forty Palestinians have been slain, including suspected terrorists and non-combatants, such as an Al Jazeera journalist reporting a raid in Jenin and onlookers.
