Chia celebrated his victory in the third stage of the Vuelta a Colombia by waving his fists in the air and pounding his chest, but he was caught off guard by his partner and was unable to swerve out of her way.

Chia was writhing in pain on the floor as the two collided at nearly full speed, while Roca was face down, seemingly unconscious.

El Tiempo, a local news agency, gave a reassuring update on Roncancio, adding, ‘She is conscious.’ The doctors stitched her up and will keep her under observation for the next few hours.’
