In protest of the justices’ decision to overturn the 50-year-old Roe v. Wade decision, which acknowledged women’s constitutional right to an abortion, hundreds of demonstrators descended on the US Supreme Court.

Nearly half of the states were expected to outlaw abortion as a result of the court’s broad decision, which had a 6-3 conservative majority.

Justice Clarence Thomas, a conservative, argued that the court’s rationale would also prompt it to reevaluate earlier decisions upholding the right to contraception, legalising gay marriage across the nation, and striking state laws against gay sex.

The number of protesters outside the Supreme Court significantly rose throughout the day. Many of the protesters calling for abortion rights gathered in the enclosed area in front of the high court.

Posters with messages like “Abort SCOTUS” were carried by the crowd. In reference to another Supreme Court ruling this week strengthening gun rights, one protester carried a poster that read, “limit guns, not women.”

The thing that “my body, my choice” activists don’t understand is that the aborted infant never had a choice, a supporter of Friday’s decision stated earlier in the day.

“The life in the womb matters, doesn’t it,” the man, who gave his name as Adam John, continued.

President Joe Biden, who on Friday expressed his displeasure with the Supreme Court’s ruling, stated on Saturday that the White House will keep an eye on how states carry out their bans. Administration officials have already made it clear they intend to fight any efforts to outlaw a pill used for medication abortion.
