Following a skydiving plane crash in San Diego, a woman died and a guy was critically injured.

Yesterday around 1.50 p.m., a single-engine Cessna Caravan crashed near Oceanside airport in San Diego.

The plane was being used by the GoJump Oceanside skydiving company. It is thought to have crashed as it approached the airport for landing.

At the time of the incident, the guy and woman were the sole passengers aboard the plane.

According to Oceanside Fire Department Battalion Chief Justin Klopfenstein, both had to be ripped free from the wreckage by firemen using hydraulic equipment.

They were brought to the hospital, but the woman died later. Authorities have not revealed the identity of the victims.

‘A single-engine Cessna 208B crashed while the pilot was attempting to land at Oceanside Municipal Airport in Oceanside, California around 2 p.m. local time today,’ the Federal Aviation Administration stated.

‘Two people were on board. The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate.

‘The NTSB will be in charge of the investigation and will provide additional updates.’

The plane was on its sixth journey of the day when it crashed, according to flight tracking data.

On Friday, the Cessna 208 Caravan took off at 1.31 p.m. from Oceanside and was scheduled to land at 1.47 p.m.

In just over three months, a skydiving plane crashed while attempting to land at Oceanside airport for the second time.

A Cessna 208B crashed in the same region in February, injuring two persons.
