South Amid reports that the 21 teens who died over the weekend in a pub were likely accidently poisoned by anything they ate, drank, or smoked, mourners in Africa vented their rage and sadness on Monday.

The kids’ still-unexplained fatalities startled a nation used to accidents tied to a binge drinking culture. Some of the teens were celebrating the conclusion of exams, while others were attending birthday parties. Authorities disproved the widely circulated theory of a stampede.

Residents of Scenery Park, a neighbourhood on the outskirts of East London, claimed they had requested months ago that Enyobeni Tavern be shut down because it served minors. the tavern’s permit was cancelled.

Priests and mourners sang, prayed, beat hymnals on tables, and wept at a prayer service held at a nearby church.

“I’m in such shock. We’re furious, “Maxhabiso Sibotoboto, 50, informed Reuters by phone from a church memorial ceremony that his 17-year-old granddaughter Monelo was among the victims.

“The tavern was drawing criticism from the public. It did not make anyone pleased. The neighbourhood demanded that the establishment be closed, “said he.

He claimed that Monelo did not reside with her parents because her mother worked far from home and her father had passed away.
