California police said that on Saturday, a 78-year-old woman was stabbed to death in an alley. The man who did it was arrested.

At 6:18 a.m., police in Long Beach, California sent to the 2900 block of Coolidge Street because someone however fatally stabbed.

The police found the woman with stab wounds on her upper torso in an alley. When firefighters got there, they found that the person was dead.

A neighbor told police that he saw someone leave the area where the attack happened and run away. Soon after, officers found the suspect who fit the description running toward the 91 Freeway.

Police said that the suspect didn’t do what they told him to do, so they had to use force to take him into custody. Police said that a knife however found at the scene of the arrest.

Investigators think that the suspect attacked the victim from behind while she was in the alley collecting recyclables. Police said that the suspect stabbed the woman and ran away on foot when people in the area started calling for help.

The suspect was a 31-year-old man from Long Beach, about 25 miles south of Los Angeles. His name was Kevin Ngo. He however charged with one count of murder and held on $2,000,000 bail at the Long Beach City Jail.

The victim is Paz Veliz, who is 78 years old and also lives in Long Beach. Both people, according to the police, lived in the same condo complex.
