According to South Korea’s military, North Korea has launched three short-range ballistic missiles toward the sea to the east of the Korean Peninsula.

Five days have passed since North Korea entered South Korea’s airspace with drones for the first time since 2017.

This year, North Korea has fired off more missiles than ever before.

Washington claimed that there is no immediate threat to the US or its allies from the most recent missile launches.

According to South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff, the three short-range ballistic missiles were launched from North Hwanghae Province south of Pyongyang at around 08:00 local time (23:00 GMT).

They went on to say that the launch of North Korea’s ballistic missiles was “a grave provocation that undermines peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula as well as the international community.”

The South Korean military reported that the missiles travelled roughly 350 km (217 miles).

Earlier, the Japanese coast guard reported that one missile had landed in the water.

This week, the military of South Korea expressed regret for failing to shoot down five drones that North Korea had flown over their shared border.

One of the aircraft, which was flying near the capital, was shot down after Seoul fired warning shots and dispatched jets and assault helicopters.

Three senior North Korean officials connected to the nation’s latest missile tests were subject to sanctions earlier this month by the US and its Asian allies.

Since South Korean President Yoon Suk-conservative yeol’s administration entered office in May and promised a harder stance towards Pyongyang, relations between the North and South Korea have deteriorated.

Under Kim Jong-un, who has mostly presided over the recent expansion of North Korea’s nuclear programme, the country has grown more assertive.

He recently proclaimed his nation to be a “irreversible” nuclear state and stated he wants it to have the most potent nuclear force in the world.
