After a woman was shot and killed on Christmas Eve in the vicinity of Liverpool, a murder inquiry was opened.

At around 23:50 GMT on Saturday, according to Merseyside Police, officers were called to the Lighthouse Inn in Wallasey Village.

Three guys and the female victim, who had been shot, were all taken to the hospital; the victim ultimately passed away.

According to Det Supt Dave McCaughrean, the shooting took place at a “busy venue packed with young people.”

He continued, “We suspect that shortly after the incident, the shooter fled the bar parking lot in a dark-colored vehicle, likely a dark-colored Mercedes.”

A “number of others,” according to Merseyside Police, were also hurt in the shooting.

Det Supt McCaughrean issued a call for witnesses to come forward.

We know that this is a genuinely sad and devastating tragedy that occurred just before Christmas Day, but this investigation is still in its early phases, he continued.

“We have a number of officers at Wallasey Village who are conducting in-depth investigations in order to pinpoint exactly what happened and take prompt action.

“While numerous others are receiving medical attention in a hospital, a woman tragically lost her life at Christmas. Our thoughts and condolences are with the victim’s family.”

According to the police, the woman’s kin have been notified, and highly trained policemen are assisting her family.
