Clare O’Neil calls Donald Trump Jr ‘big baby’ over cancelled tour

Australian Home Minister Clare O’Neil referred to Donald Trump Jr. as a “big baby” after the son of the former U.S. president cancelled his planned speaking tour in the country.

The younger Trump had been scheduled for a three-day tour in Australia, set to begin in Sydney on Sunday, but he cancelled the trip citing visa issues, according to organisers. The group Turning Point Australia, which supports “free markets and limited government,” mentioned difficulties similar to those encountered in America.

However, O’Neil, a prominent member of the centre-left Labor government led by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, stated that Trump had been granted a visa and poor ticket sales were the actual reason for the cancellation.

In a series of now-deleted Twitter posts, O’Neil referred to Donald Trump Jr. as a sore loser and stated that he was not cancelled but simply a disliked figure.

The reason for deleting the Twitter posts is unclear, and O’Neil’s office did not respond to requests for comment.

Prime Minister Albanese also clarified that the former President’s eldest son had not been prohibited from entering Australia, stating that Trump Jr.’s visa had been processed in the standard manner. He added that the decision to postpone the travel was entirely up to Trump Jr. himself.

Donald Trump Jr. has been a vocal supporter of his father and is a leading contender for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.
