Marilyn Mosby, previously known for charging six police officers in connection with Freddie Gray’s death in 2015, faced a blow to her reputation after being found guilty of two counts of perjury.

The US Justice Department revealed Mosby’s not-guilty plea last year, accusing her of falsely obtaining money from her retirement accounts under a COVID-19 relief provision.

Facing a maximum five-year prison sentence, Mosby is also charged in a separate federal case for false mortgage applications on vacation homes.

She allegedly claimed pandemic-related financial setbacks, omitted $45,000 in back taxes, and profited $150,000 from selling a home.

Mosby, denying charges, previously called them a “political ploy.” Mosby’s attorney has not commented, and her lead attorney argued that the case revolves around a three-page form and Mosby’s beliefs when filling it out, emphasizing her innocence. Mosby expressed feeling blessed with no further comments after the verdict.
