A remarkable group of heroes, comprising Sharjah firefighters, the National Ambulance team, Sharjah Police Ambulance, and Dubai Ambulance, collaborated in a thrilling nighttime rescue mission to save the life of an extremely strong 48-year-old Arab woman and assist her in leaving her apartment.

The woman desperately needed emergency medical attention because she was suffering from heart illness and breathing difficulties.

Her enormous weight posed an intimidating barrier, but the seriousness of the problem became evident when the national ambulance service asked for her immediate transport to the hospital.

With the extra assistance of a specialty truck from Dubai Ambulance built for managing big weights, the combined efforts of Sharjah Civil Defence, the National Ambulance, and the Sharjah Police Ambulance proved effective.

How was the complex operation carried out?

The woman had to be extracted from her fifth-floor apartment, a difficult procedure that took close to two hours to complete.

The woman was tough to maneuver through the front door of her apartment, so the family looked into other options before calling Sharjah Civil Defense for help.

Director-General of the Sharjah Civil Defence Authority Brigadier Sami Khamis Al Naqbi told local news agency that they got a request on Tuesday night from the national ambulance to help transport the 400 kg woman to the hospital.

The woman’s health was deteriorating, the family said, and she couldn’t receive the necessary care at home. As a result, time was of the essence.

Firefighters lifted the woman out of her residence using specialized equipment.

According to Brigadier Al Naqbi, the firefighters covered her body to prevent injury and ensure a safe completion of the surgery.

It took fourteen hours to finish the procedure.

She was taken to a hospital in Umm Al Quwain for treatment after being safely brought to the ground and taken by National Ambulance and a special vehicle operated by Dubai Ambulance.
