The strike hit the logistics support base located at the strategically important Tower 22 of the Jordanian Defense Network, situated at the most northeastern point where Jordan’s borders meet Syria and Iraq.

Tower 22 plays a crucial role in the US strategy to contain Iran’s military build-up in eastern Syria. The outpost, near the Al Tanf garrison in Syria, houses US troops and has been instrumental in the fight against Daesh (ISIS). The base supports approximately 350 US Army and Air Force personnel, providing key support functions and aiding the coalition in the lasting defeat of ISIS.
