Kicking off 2024, Emirati youth are achieving remarkable milestones. Three-year-old Emirati girl AlMaha Rashed AlMheiri has etched her name in history by publishing two children’s stories, ‘The Flower’ and ‘Honeybee.’

Within 24 hours, she accomplished the extraordinary feat of selling over 1,000 copies of both books, earning her the title of the youngest published female writer in the world, as recognized by the Guinness World Records. The nursery student officially set this record on January 7, 2024, with the official ceremony scheduled for later this month.

AlMaha’s creative journey, fueled by her passion for storytelling and drawing, enabled her to learn how to write and produce imaginative stories accompanied by vibrant illustrations. In both tales, she aims to convey the importance of environmental principles, inspired by her eco-friendly outlook.

AlMaha’s mother:

AlMaha’s mother shared, “AlMaha wanted to instill the significance of ecological preservation in youngsters her age.” Reflecting on their visit to COP28 in Dubai last November, she mentioned, “After attending the conference, we truly realized the growing importance of environmental conservation and the need to educate children.”

Contrary to the typical age when children start to read and write (6-7 years old, according to Kids Health research), AlMaha demonstrated exceptional skills, mastering these abilities at the age of 3. Known for engaging in insightful conversations at a young age, she impresses everyone around her.

Her mother highlighted AlMaha’s talent and confidence, crediting the power of developing skills through early reading. The family, consisting of young achievers and Guinness World Record holders, views healthy competition among siblings as a driving force for pursuing their passions.

Aldhabi, AlMaha’s older sister, holds the record for being the youngest person to publish a bilingual book at the age of 7 and 360 days, while her brother holds the record for being the youngest male to publish a book at the age of 4. According to their mother, nurturing children’s skills and abilities is a crucial role for families, emphasizing the importance of discovering talents, boosting self-confidence, and raising awareness about the need to nurture children to become active contributors to society.
