Dubai police recorded 50 accidents in just 20 minutes during rush hour
The official Dubai Police app recorded about 50 road accidents in Dubai within 20 minutes on Monday morning. By 9 am, a map overview of the emirate displayed a multitude of purple icons, indicating collisions throughout the city.
Key arterial roads in the city experienced severe congestion, with Dubai Police alerting motorists to two major accidents causing tailbacks at the time of publication. The first occurred on Hessa Street, opposite Saudi German Hospital, heading to Sheikh Zayed Road. A collision on this crucial route resulted in a traffic jam, prompting authorities to advise residents to use alternative routes.
A second accident on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, opposite International City, heading towards Sharjah, was also obstructing traffic.
Police released a video depicting one of the collisions that occurred at a junction, capturing a 4WD slamming into a sedan while navigating a U-turn. The impact resulted in the sedan, which appeared to have crossed the stoplight, skidding across multiple lanes before eventually coming to a stop at the box junction. Subsequently, the video revealed police at the scene, blocking one lane at the intersection, compelling vehicles to maneuver around the crash site.
