UAE: Over 1,000 private firms caught faking Emiratisation since mid-2022
During inspections conducted by the human resource ministry, authorities caught 1,077 private companies faking Emiratisation in the UAE since the second half of 2022. The authority penalized these firms for hiring 1,818 citizens who had violated Emiratisation laws by attempting to overcome targets through the illegal hiring of Emiratis.
Authorities consider Emiratisation fake when they confirm that a UAE national works in a nominal job without real tasks to meet the establishment’s required Emiratisation targets and/or when an Emirati is rehired in the same establishment to circumvent data and benefits from the relevant benefits of Emiratisation.
Companies engaging in bogus Emiratisation face penalties for their violations. In addition to imposing financial penalties, the ministry downgrades the violating companies to the lowest category within the classification system of private sector establishments registered with the ministry. This step results in several consequences for private companies, including higher fees for Mohre services.
MoHRE reiterated that violating companies face hefty fines ranging from Dh20,000 to Dh100,000 for each case. Referral to the Public Prosecution depends on the severity of the violation.
The ministry emphasized that fake Emiratisation constitutes a clear violation of Emiratisation-related decisions and the regulations of the Nafis program. You can report any violations concerning Emiratisation through the MoHRE call center at 600590000 or the Ministry’s smart application.
